Coherent new 80 um version in the Telcom Polarization Maintaining family is designed for today’s most advanced networks. This fiber is optimized for use at 980 nm and up, and can be used in all PM applications for data and telecom. The 80µm version offers the same performance and extinction ratios as the 125 um versions, but is specifically designed for low bend loss at the small bend diameters. This enables our customers to significantly reduce package sizes to meet the demands of all current and future applications. Coherent has applied its unique manufacturing facility and capabilities to this product area and has established leading optical, mechanical and geometrical tolerances. PM980-XP-80 is available with a 165 micron coating diameter and prooftested to 200 kpsi.
